Colleagues and members at European Board and College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology have all been deeply shocked and saddened at the terrible news of untimely death of Professor Andrii Tkachenko. At the age of 51, Andrii’s untimely departure left us speechless and devastated.
He was a dearly loved, respected and much-admired friend, colleague, supervisor, mentor and teacher. He was widely praised for his work in simulation-based training, continuing medical education, quality assurance of CME and in the field of European Accreditation of CME with the UEMS. He served the EBCOG since 2008 and been executive for the last 5 years. We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family and friends, knowing that his loss will be felt deeply by so many around Europe and beyond.
For many of us who worked with him, our thoughts will be of good times we spent with Andrii, whose warmth, compassion and kindness mean we have many fond memories of him. As William Wordsworth said “Though nothing can bring back the hour of splendor in the grass, of glory in the flower, We will grieve not, rather find strength in what remains behind”
May our Andrii’s soul rest in eternal peace.
The funeral will be held in Kyiv on Wednesday 24th November at 11am.
