In a display of digital dexterity, the members of the Board of the Ukrainian Federation of Professionals in Medicine and Pharmaceuticals (UFPMO) held their scheduled meeting on August 11 via online channels, with remote voting at their disposal. A decision was reached, with the support of all members, to hold future meetings of the Scientific Council, the Medical Council, and the Chamber of Specialists in a hybrid format, with necessary powers delegated.
The President of the UFPMO, Viacheslav Kaminskyi, highlighted the completion of the formation of advisory bodies and presented the next steps and plans for the coming months. Mykola Tronko, Chairman of the Academic Council, introduced newly elected secretaries and deputies in three areas of work, and their appointment was unanimously supported.

Valerii Zaporozhan, Chairman of the Medical Council, submitted a candidate for Secretary of the Medical Council and deputies for voting, which was also supported by all members. Furthermore, Roman Bohachev, Chairman of the Executive Committee, introduced a new Deputy Chairman of the Chamber of Specialists.
It is important to note that the current vote is a recommendation for approval. The final decision on the appointment of new secretaries and deputies will be made during a direct vote in the advisory bodies of the UFPMO. Following that, a second vote will take place at the Board Member’s Meeting.
The UFPMO’s fruitful cooperation with the Ministry of Health of Ukraine was highlighted during the meeting, with members of the Chamber of Specialists being presented as leaders of new expert groups. While the formation of expert groups is still ongoing, candidates may still be added.
Lastly, the Board Members addressed the appointment of Chairs of Profile Committees, temporary and permanent Commissions, with all changes being unanimously supported.
One of the topics at the forefront of the carefully considered discussions during the meeting was the draft Law «On Self-Government in the Medical Professions». Following a public discussion of the draft Law on August 10, which was attended by the Minister of Health, representatives of the Office of the President, the Committee of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on National Health, Medical Aid and Medical Insurance, and employees of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, the President of the UFPMO, Viacheslav Kaminskyi, initiated a discussion on potential changes.
During the Board Meeting, the Vice-President of the UFPMO, Iryna Sysoenko, stressed the importance of bringing in more legal experts to help refine the draft Law.
