The obituary
On November 20, 2021, Andrii Volodymyrovych Tkachenko, the co-founder, General Secretary, and ideological inspirer of the Ukrainian Federation of Professional Medical Associations, passed away. Despite his position, he always preferred to be addressed simply as Andriy, without any grandiosity.

Andrii Volodymyrovych was a Doctor of Medical Sciences, an associate professor of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the National Institute of Obstetrics and Gynecology No. 1, and a graduate of the National Medical University named after O.O. Bogomolets. He authored around 50 printed works and held 15 invention patents. Andrii was an obstetrician-gynecologist of the highest qualification category and represented Ukraine in the European Council and College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, as well as on the Committee on International Cooperation of the Association of Obstetricians and Gynecologists of Ukraine.
His scientific interests and practical activities centered around the issues of pregnancy and childbirth in high-risk women, placental dysfunction, miscarriage, autoimmune disorders during pregnancy, multiple pregnancies, and childbirth.
Andrii’s contribution to Ukrainian medicine and the birth of new lives was invaluable, and hundreds of families are grateful to him for helping more than one hundred babies come into the world. His patients often referred to him as a doctor sent from God, who gave hope for the birth of a new life and made it possible despite challenging circumstances.
Andrii Volodymyrovych will be remembered as a calm, self-confident, professional, experienced, reliable, and sensitive doctor. His life serves as an example of a successful doctor and manager who devoted himself to medicine, saving lives, and the birth of new lives. He aimed to develop Ukrainian medicine and create an independent medical self-government system that would protect the rights and interests of medical workers and effectively develop Ukrainian medicine. It is now our duty to continue implementing Andrii’s mission.
The Ukrainian Federation of Professional Medical Associations extends its condolences to Andrii Tkachenko’s family, relatives, and colleagues. We will always remember our Andrii Volodymyrovych with respect and eternal memory.
