Servier Joins Efforts to Restore Damaged Medical Facilities
This statement is documented in the memorandum on cooperation and interaction, which was officially signed between the Ministry of Health of Ukraine and the charitable foundation «Mecenat Servier».
«We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the government and people of France for their unwavering support throughout this full-scale conflict. With the collective effort of our international allies, we have defiantly stood against unjustified Russian aggression, championing the values cherished by the democratic world. We have valiantly held the medical front, safeguarding the lives of both civilians and military personnel. Ukraine finds itself under relentless Russian fire, a daily onslaught that spares no mercy. Regrettably, even our medical infrastructure has not been spared from this brutality. In the course of the past year, the ravages of war have left 1,498 medical facilities damaged, with 1,316 of them bearing scars of destruction and 182 reduced to utter ruin. Swift action is imperative, as we face these challenges head-on, ensuring that medical care remains accessible to patients across every corner of our resilient nation» articulated Viktor Liashko.
The signed memorandum serves as a pivotal tool in facilitating extensive collaboration, with the primary objective of orchestrating coordinated efforts to deliver charitable aid and rehabilitate medical and social institutions throughout Ukraine, as part of the United24 initiative. The foremost priority will be devoted to directing all endeavors and resources towards initiatives aimed at revitalizing the ravaged Chernihiv Central District Hospital. Additionally, there will be a concerted focus on the reconstruction of the Bohdanivsk outpatient clinic of general practice – family medicine, situated in the Kyiv region.
Expressing optimism, the Minister of Health of Ukraine expressed his hope that these two projects would initiate fruitful and enduring cooperation, ultimately benefiting Ukrainian patients. Furthermore, he emphasized the intention to broaden the scope of their interaction in the future, striving to maintain coordinated efforts that yield optimal outcomes. In addition, the Minister extended gratitude to Servier for their generous provision of humanitarian aid and the successful implementation of projects, which have played a pivotal role in ensuring that Ukrainians have access to advanced and innovative treatments.
During the meeting, the participants also engaged in discussions concerning various avenues of collaboration in the realm of telemedicine, the provision of cutting-edge medical equipment to healthcare facilities, as well as the facilitation of clinical research on groundbreaking pharmaceuticals, among other areas.
